# How to add or change permissions of a user

## Invite new users to join your Ravio account, with a range of role types available and configure access for existing users

From the Users area of the Settings menu you can invite new users to join you in your Ravio account. *Check out the video below for a full walk through.*

1. Choose “Invite User”
2. Enter the email address of the new user
3. If necessary, link the user to a specific employee at your company (to assign manager or employee permissions)
4. Select the relevant role type
5. Send the user an invite

#### Role types

The first user to set up your company’s Ravio account will have Admin access by default. When adding additional users to the account, they will need to select the relevant Ravio role for each new user.

Access for a user can be changed at any time, after they have been invited. Only Admin users can edit Roles for other users.

| Standard Role | Market Data | Employee Salary Data & Bands | Settings |

| HR | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ |
| Market Analyst | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
| Manager | ❌ | Only direct & indirect reports | ❌ |
| Employee | ❌ | Only themselves | ❌ |

**Two ways to add users (manual & automatic)**

Users can be linked to HRIS employees in one of two ways:

- **Automatic:** Ravio automatically matches the user to an employee based on email address
- **Manual:** Admin can manually link a user to an employee using an employee ID

To do this, click "Link employee". 

#### Select a role for a user

To set a role for an existing user, find them in the Users area of the Settings menu and click on the three dots next to their "Last Active" date.
