How to override an employee's level & role mappings
This guide explains how to manually adjust or override an individual employee's position or level if you do not agree with how their data has been mapped.
Overview
Ravio automatically maps your team’s roles and levels to ensure your benchmarks are accurate. However, you might occasionally need to adjust an individual mapping to better reflect a specific team member’s responsibilities. Making an override allows you to change a single employee's benchmark without altering your global mapping rules.
Prerequisites
- Permission level: Admin only
- Data needed: Access to the employee's internal job title and level
- Platform areas: Access to either the Analyse your company page or the Levelling section
Step-by-Step Instructions
There are two ways to make an override within the platform.
Option 1: Override from the Compensation page
Use this method if you are already reviewing your company's compensation analytics and notice a discrepancy.
- Navigate to Analyse your company > Compensation in the sidebar.
- Locate the employee you want to update and click the dropdown arrow next to their name.
- Click the pencil icon next to the Ravio mapping section.
- To update the position: Select a new option from the Ravio position menu and click Apply.
- To update the level: Select a new Ravio level, choose Aaron Jensen only (or the respective employee's name) to ensure it is treated as an isolated change, and click Apply level override.
Option 2: Override from the Levelling tab
Use this method if you are performing a bulk review of your data framework.
- Navigate to Manage my data > Levelling in the sidebar.
- Click Edit next to the Review employees section.
- Locate the employee in question and click the three dots (ellipsis) icon on the right-hand side of their row.
- Click Edit Ravio position or Edit Ravio level.
- Select the correct position or level from the menu, and click Apply.
Tips & Tricks
- An override will effectively lock that individual's ravio role/level mapping in place until it is removed. For example if an employee's level is overridden to Ravio level P3, and their internal level updates, the individual will remain mapped to P3 (regardless of the company level standard correlation), until the override is removed or updated. For this reason they should be used sparingly, for genuine employee exceptions.
- Spotting overrides: You can quickly check which overrides are currently active by looking at the Review employees page. Any position or level that has been manually adjusted will display a small purple dot next to it.
- Global changes vs individual overrides: If you change a mapping from the Position mapping screen under Levelling, it will update the rule for all employees with that job title. Always use the Review employees screen or the pencil icon on the analytics page if you only want the change to apply to one specific person.
