# How to connect Ravio to Claude (MCP)
## Connect Ravio to Claude in about two minutes and ask questions about your pay data in plain English.
The Ravio MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets Claude read your Ravio benchmarks, salary bands, employee pay data, and market insights. You can also ask Claude to make changes, like updating band ranges, with your approval. Claude only sees what your Ravio account can see. **The Ravio MCP is in beta.** It's only available to customers who've joined the beta. To ask about access, email your CSM (Customer Success Manager).
### Before you start
You need three things:
- **A Ravio admin account** you can log in to.
- **A Claude plan** that supports custom connectors: Free (one custom connector only), Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise.
- **The Ravio MCP server URL:** `https://app.ravio.com/mcp`
On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, only an Owner can add the connector for your organisation. If you're not an Owner, ask them to follow the admin steps below first.
#### Connect Ravio to Claude
These steps are for Free, Pro, and Max plans, and for Team and Enterprise members once an Owner has added Ravio. Use Claude on the web or Claude Desktop.
1. In Claude, go to **Settings \> Connectors**.
2. Click **Add custom connector**. (Team and Enterprise members: skip to step 5 and find **Ravio** in the list, marked **Custom**.)
3. Enter a name, for example **Ravio MCP**, and paste the URL: `https://app.ravio.com/mcp`
4. Click **Add**.
5. Click **Connect** next to Ravio.
6. Log in to Ravio in the window that opens and approve access. You will need to be an admin user in Ravio.
7. Start a new chat, click **+**, open **Connectors**, and check Ravio is switched on.
Once connected, Ravio also works in the Claude mobile apps. Adding connectors on mobile is in beta, so set Ravio up on the web or Claude Desktop first.
#### For Claude Team and Enterprise Owners
Add Ravio once for your organisation. Each person then connects with their own Ravio login.
1. Go to **Organization settings \> Connectors**.
2. Click **Add**, hover over **Custom**, and select **Web**.
3. Paste the URL: `https://app.ravio.com/mcp`
4. Click **Add**.
You can also set tool permissions here, for example to allow read-only tools and block tools that change data. These settings apply to everyone in your organisation.
### Try it out
Ask Claude a question about your pay data. Some ideas to start with:
- "What's the market median base salary for a Senior Software Engineer in Berlin?"
- "Which employees in Engineering are paid below their band minimum?"
- "Show me our gender pay gap by department."
- "How fast are salaries rising in the UK this year?"
- "Which bands in our draft scenario are furthest from market?"
You choose when Claude can use each Ravio tool. Go to Settings \> Connectors, open Ravio MCP, and pick an option next to each tool: the tick to always allow it, the hand to ask for your approval first, or the block icon to switch it off.
### Troubleshooting and FAQs
**I can't see "Add custom connector".** You may be on a Team or Enterprise plan. Ask your Claude Owner to add Ravio, then connect from **Settings \> Connectors**.
**Claude isn't using Ravio in my chat.** Click **+** in the chat, open **Connectors**, and check Ravio is switched on. Mentioning Ravio in your question also helps.
**Claude says it can't see some data.** Claude has the same access as your Ravio account. If you can't see an employee or scenario in Ravio, Claude can't either. Ask your Ravio admin to check your permissions.
**The connection failed or expired.** Go to **Settings \> Connectors**, click Ravio, and select **Disconnect**. Then click **Connect** and log in again.
**How do I remove Ravio from Claude?** Go to **Settings \> Connectors**, open Ravio MCP, and remove it from the ⋮ menu. Owners can remove it for everyone in **Organization settings \> Connectors**.
**I can't connect, even with the right URL.** Your company may not be in the beta yet. Email your CSM to ask about access.
