EU Pay Transparency: Setup Guide

Our EU Pay Transparency tool helps you work towards compliance with the EU Pay Transparency Directive (EUPTD), using data you already store in Ravio. Setting up your equal value categories (EVCs) is the first real step, and it's quicker than it sounds.

A quick note before you start: Ravio doesn't provide legal advice, and setting up your categories doesn't make you EUPTD-compliant on its own. It's a first step. See the EU Pay Transparency: FAQs for more information.

Before you start

  • You need the Pay Equity module. EU Pay Transparency lives inside it, if you want to add the module to your account, contact your CSM.
  • You need an EU presence. The directive applies within the EU so the tool does not support teams outside the region.
  • Your job architecture should be up to date. Ravio drafts your categories from your existing job family and level data. The more current it is, the better your starting point.

Setting up your equal value categories

The EUPTD requires objective, gender-neutral criteria for grouping roles of equal value by country. In Ravio, you set this up via our EU Pay Transparency tool, one country at a time.

  1. Open EU Pay Transparency. If you haven't set up categories yet, you'll see a prompt to create them.
  2. Select the option to create categories. This starts the setup conversation.
  3. Select country. Equal value categories are created one country at a time.
  4. Ravio explains what it's about to do. You can start by mapping your roles to equal value categories by job family and level, and Ravio flags any roles missing from your job architecture as "unmapped".
  5. Choose simple or sophisticated equal value categories.
    • Simple keeps the 1:1 job family and level grouping – the fastest route to a working structure.
    • Sophisticated refines those groupings further, which takes more time.
Please note: both routes are a starting point towards creating equal value categories. In both cases you should review and refine the categories to ensure they make sense for your business.
  6. Review the proposal. Ravio will present a list of proposed equal value categories. Reject suggested groupings, rename a category, or ask for a redo before you approve.
  7. Approve to create categories. This stores your categories for the country.

Tip: You can't save two categories with the same name. If you try, the save fails – rename one first.

Already have categories, or need to change one later?

  • Already have equal value categories from a consultant or another tool? Tell your Customer Success Manager and we'll upload them for you.
  • To edit your categories, ask in chat by name, for example: "Merge 'Sales Band E' and 'Account Management Band E' into a new category called 'GTM Band E'."

What Ravio shows you

After you approve, Ravio confirms what it's created directly in chat: category names, the job families and levels behind each, and headcount. There's no categories list page in this beta, so to check what you have, just ask: "What categories do we have for Germany?" and your categories will be listed for review.
